Family Art Festival

We checked out the Family Art Festival at BYU Museum of Art. It focused on their Islamic exhibit, which was fabulous - well at least what I saw while we tried to keep C1 and C2 from tearing down the place and L from providing a soundtrack for the other patrons. They had a hands-on section for kids. First we made our own tile designs (after looking at some beautiful painted tiles) by gluing colored paper scraps to a black piece of cardstock. It was C2's first experience with a glue stick which she assumed was to be used just like Chapstick (sorry no pictures -- I was busy making my own tile). C1 was excited they had red scissors. He preferred cutting the shapes up rather than making a pretty pattern - D was proud. We learned about infinite designs (with the Spirograph) and about patterns in nature (see the magnifying glass and shells) - both used in the Islamic Art, which I'm sure C1 and C2 understood! L slept through the whole adventure.

C1 making the Spirograph work - which he loved - especially since it was red, which he has informed us is his favorite color - notice the shirt. He must wear a read shirt everyday. There is a hierarchy, this one is not the favorite, but it was  the only one clean today.
