Oh how times flies when it comes to blogging... I can't believe it was 6 weeks ago or so that we last posted. It doesn't seem that long, but a LOT has happened in those weeks.
1. The biggest and best news.... We have a DOCTOR in the house! D finished, yes that's right finished, his PhD. His dissertation is being bound and will soon be available on the library shelves (surely there will be a big rush to check it out). TU doesn't have a summer graduation, so all the ceremony (and forthcoming pictures) will be in December.
2. We moved... since we sold our house in May, and our free University housing ran out at the end of July we needed a new residence. We wanted it to be close to TU and preferably 3 bedrooms and not crazy expensive and not unbearably disgusting. This apparently was a lot to ask. M spent what seemed like endless days driving by, looking up, calling about, and seeing rental homes. Nothing seemed to be working out (either it would rent just before we saw it, or the person wouldn't return the call, or the online listing was some hoax, wanting a credit report before looking at the property). In a total leap of faith we drove by a house, called on it, and put down a deposit before we even saw the inside. The circumstances that led up to this were numerous - D was wasting away making final dissertation changes, my cousin got married the weekend they were going to have an open house, we were leaving on vacation in 5 short days and needed to be ready to move somewhere the day after we returned, and I was so tired of looking it just didn't matter anymore. Well prayers were answered. We love the house - it has 3 bedrooms, isn't disgusting, isn't crazy expensive, and 3 blocks from campus.
3. We spent a week in Montana visiting family (pics to come). It was wonderful to spend time together (no dissertation writing!) and to see and play with family. C LOVED all the attention and the free to roam locations.
4. M did not start school! Teachers prepared rooms and welcomed new students but M was home - sleeping in and playing with C! D has taken over the bread-winning responsibilities, M will now do whatever you do when you stay home (I'm still figuring that part out).
5. D is teaching at TU - a one year postdoctoral fellow position, that gives him a job while trying to find a permanent job. Classes started this week. He is also teaching at Tulsa Community College to supplement the meager (but very appreciated) earnings of a postdoctoral fellow. Interestingly, one of the classes he is teaching at TCC is a concurrent enrollment class for high school seniors - allowing them to take Freshman Comp will still in high school. This is his first class of the week - early Monday mornings. The interesting part, is that D decided to get a PhD, many moons ago, because he did not want to teach high school. And yet, just after being granted said PhD, his first job is.... I'll stop there, D does not find as much humor in this interesting fact, as I do.
6. Numero Dos is suppose to make his/her appearance in the next 7 weeks... Obviously we still don't know the sex. What we do know is that this little one likes to stretch and push on all the surrounding "walls"of his/her little home, and he or she may likely come out ready to wrestle C, as he likes to pound my tummy through out the day while saying something like - bay-bee.
Those are the updates for now, I think.
