C's portrait

I took these pictures of C while thinking "Lacan's 'The mirror stage as formative of the function of the I as revealed in psychoanalytic experience." I asked M to look and she immediately said, "Ah, Baudrillard and simulacra."

If your names are Dale or Valerie, we feel fairly confident you enjoy our sentiments. If you are Heidi or Karen, you are rolling your eyes, but you get it. For everyone else who thinks, "They are so weird and disconnected from normal people . . ." we say . . . well, yeah, we are weird and nerds. But at least we don't mind each other!

P.S. I think M is hot when she starts talking about simulacra.

Here are a few more C pictures:

M is teaching him to type =)

This is what C does to magazines and playing cards (nothing will be safe again).

  1. I appreciate how you singled me out in this post... and you KNOW I hate critical theory and don't get it at all!! lol. :)
He's getting so big. And he's so cute! I wish I could meet him in person.

  2. My name is Valerie and this post brought me a huge smile and lots of chuckles. So when can we get together and talk some theory? BTW when Jesse was about 6 months old, he attended a conference with me. We arrived at the plenary speech (100s of audience members--J and I at the back of the large hall) just in time to hear the speaker explain the mirror stage. Just as she finished the explanation, Jesse let out a very loud yelp. Yikes! The speaker told him not to protest his phase in life.
